Gavin rode with me this morning to get my hair cut and then we picked up his friend Adam on the way home. Gavin and Adam met in kindergarten and really hit it off. They are not in the same first grade class, but they still play at recess and any chance they get. Adam brought his DS, so Gavin played with that while Adam played the V.Smile. They really didn't physically play much today, so we weren't worried about Gavin's button.
Whittney loves it when Adam comes over because she likes him too. She is holding a new little kitten in this picture. As you may remember, Whittney is waiting patiently for Grandma Till's kittens to get big enough to bring home to Grandpa Pat's barn...well, Grandma Till thinks her three kittens have ran away. So Grandma gave Whittney this kitten to replace the real kittens that she will not be getting...she takes it almost everywhere and we even had to make it a house out of a shoe box for it.
Aleigha had fun playing in her toy drawers today. Mommy was dusting the living room and the next thing she knew, Aleigha had emptied the drawer and was sitting in it!
Aleigha was very helpful cleaning the sliding glass door! Not sure if you can see it, but her tongue was sticking out most of the time she was wiping!
After the whole house took a nap today...even Max was sleeping...Heather (Gavin's kindergarten teacher) and her four children stopped by to give Gavin a gift and visit for a bit. Maurissa, Heather's daughter, is in Gavin's first grade class. She asked her mom if they could visit Gavin.
This evening for supper we went out again...when we got home, the kids played on the play set in the backyard! Gavin sure is feeling better today! To help persuade Gavin to accept this cecostomy, mommy has told him that God made him special. He is pretty sure that God did not make him special and he doesn't want to talk about it...his words exactly. Today, we talked to him about how now, with his cecostomy, he doesn't have to be so particular with what he eats...watching his sugar intake like before. He had a pretty big grin after hearing that!!
Because of Gavin's cecostomy flushing each evening, our bedtime routine has been altered. We now begin our routine a little earlier...around 7PM we flush Gavin...which takes about an hour or more...the girls bathe while he is doing that and then when he finishes, he jumps in the shower. Next it is drinks, teeth brushing, reading books (if we haven't already read them because Gavin is having trouble and has to sit longer), and bed. Each evening, Gavin tries even harder than the night before not to have to do the flush. He thinks he has given it enough of a try to let the doctor know he does not want it. Although he did not complain of any side pain today, it hurt when we flushed his cecostomy tonight. We think it is more of a quick intense pain that builds up because he needs to use the bathroom. It may be something the doctor can help, or it may be something he just needs to get used to. We have a check up appointment on Tuesday morning with his surgeon. Okay, the reason for this picture is to show you that we move the television so it is sitting in front of the bathroom door while Gavin is doing his cecostomy flush. It helps to pass the time. Then tonight, he wasn't sure he was finished and sat right next to the bathroom in case he needed to go more...which he did (they are snacking on carmel popcon).
